Poor Willard

Willard and the band have been in Steamboat Springs, CO since the 4th or 5th of January. After going back on the road on the 1st he almost instantly started getting sick. While in Steamboat he ended up feeling horrible and possibly facing the flu. They left for another gig and had started down into a lower elevation... while that happened he said he couldn't get his ears to pop and that his head felt as if it would explode. He tried laying down last night and said "i tried to lay down and where my jaw and ears meet felt like Hulk Hogan trying to pop my head..." He decided to go to the ER in whatever town in Colorado they are in... He texted me at 1:15 this morning to let me know what they said... "it's a severe inner ear infection in both my ears...they are going to give me some ear drops, vicadin, told me I should take some benadryl, drink a ton of water, and hope like hell my eardrums don't burst...they're severely swollen" ... He called me again around 1:40 to let me know that they gave him a prescription for percoset, and amoxicilian, plus some pain medicine ear drops. I now know how he felt when I was really ill at the beginning of November and he couldn't be with me. He and I don't get sick very often and I feel terrible that he's out on the road and I can't help him. I can be there to emotionally support him but I want to be able to physically help him. It's one of those things that we have to go through with this type of lifestyle.

For the next couple of weeks the girls and I will have house guests. It's market time again for my parents and that means that we are taking care of the dogs, harry & meadow. They are like our step-children and I enjoy them coming to visit, however, at times it can get a bit overwhelming. It's only overwhelming because our house is a little small (1600 sq ft) for three golden retrievers and two kids. Harry is actually more like having a lion around.... Meadow is just psychotic about playing ball and is constantly walking around like a chicken with her head cut off. Georgia is very excited to have her best friends back around. I know she misses the farm when we have to leave. Madison and Makenna love having all the dogs around though. They are huge helpers when it comes to breakfast and dinner times.... And let me say not only is Meadow insane about playing fetch but she acts like she's never been fed before. Just yesterday Makenna sat on the couch next to Mimi with a bowl of trail mix snack and Meadow just walked up and stuck her head right in the bowl. Most dogs will at least walk up to you and sniff the bowl first or something, but not miss meadow.... She stuck her nose right on the food and tried to get a bite. It was pretty hysterical! You could set your watch by Meadow and dinner time. She likes to eat at 5:30 on the dot and will let you know if you are one minute past. Then she will continue to beg if you have food out and she even licks the silverware in the dishwasher! Who knew my dad would ever have such a beggar dog!!

You know, I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately I haven't seen Jona since September and I'm not quite sure exactly when it is I'll see him again. The military life sucks and while I'm thankful he should be coming home soon, I am also very impatient. I know how hard it is to only be there for emotional support. You and Willard are two very strong people and I admire your strength.
